American Justice On Display: Compare The Shooting Deaths Of Daunte Wright And Ashli Babbitt

 by Barry Ferguson

A definition of justice would include the word ‘fairness’. Ergo, justice should be applied to all citizens fairly.

But we are looking at American justice. In reality, it is many shades of gray. Let’s look at the tragic shooting deaths of two people in very similar circumstances as they interacted with police forces.

Ashli Babbitt was a young lady who was killed by a police officer at the Capital Building in early January of 2021 and Daunte Wright was a young man killed by a police officer in Minneapolis, MN in April of 2021. Let’s look at the similarities of these cases and the profoundly different applications of American justice.

Ms. Babbitt was indeed involved with a group of people making their way into the Capital Building to express objections to a fraudulent election result. This is a right granted to citizens by the First Amendment to the Constitution. That is, in addition to free speech, citizens have the right to “…petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Mr. Wright was stopped by Minneapolis police for a vehicle infraction. He was driving a car with expired plates. First, the press reported Mr. Wright had too many air fresheners hanging from the rear view mirror. Then they changed the story.

Word of warning. Clearly I was not personally at either event and only know what I read. The press is not trustworthy. The press is a group that now tries to massage the truth to fit a narrative they want to impart. For example, most people that recall the double murder of O.J. Simpson’s wife and her friend in 1994 think they were killed at the same time. That’s what the press has led us to believe. However, Mr. Simpson’s security guy says they were murdered two hours apart. A still frozen ice cream cone was found by police in the Simpson house indicating that Ms. Simpson left the restaurant where Mr. Goldman worked, went to an ice cream parlor, and then returned home hours after Mr. Goldman was likely murdered. So, let’s get back to fairness and justice.

Ms. Babbitt was a white lady killed by a black police officer.

Mr. Wright was a black man killed by a white police officer.

Ms. Babbitt was unarmed and had no warrants or arrests in her past.

Mr. Wright was apparently not armed but did indeed have outstanding warrants for armed robbery and assault.

Ms. Babbitt was shot as she tried to breach a locked door.

Mr. Wright was shot as he was in the process of resisting arrest due to his warrants. He re-entered his car refusing to heed the commands of the officers attempting the arrest.

Ms. Babbitt, regardless of what the LGBT people might think, was of no physical threat to the police officer who shot her.

Mr. Wright had already broken free of the male officer attempting to handcuff him and could clearly overpower the female officer. The officer may have indeed perceived Mr. Wright as a threat.

Ms. Babbitt was shot by an officer who clearly had his weapon trained on her. The officer knew his weapon was deadly force.

Mr. Wright was shot by an officer who may have mistakenly drawn her weapon instead of a taser.

Now, a young white woman and a young black man are dead. One was shot by a black officer and the other shot by a white officer.

The black officer’s name has not been officially released. The white officer’s name was released hours after the shooting.

The white officer is now arrested facing second degree murder charges. The black officer has been completely exonerated by the Department of Justice and will face no charges.

The black officer no doubt believed he was defending America’s politicians. Lethal force is extended to him.

The white officer no doubt believed she was defending American citizens. Lethal force is not extended to her.

There were no laws broken at the Capital Building.

There were laws broken in Minneapolis.

Justice in the USA has become totally fungible. It depends on whether or not homicide victims are white or black. It depends on whether or not homicide victims are Trump supporters or not. Justice is now simply relative.

America’s DOJ, judges, attorneys, and politicians are all at fault. No one stands up for America’s citizens any longer. Until real justice is applied to all, America will continue to burn in a fire of unfairness.

In closing, allow me to help with a suggestion. Regarding traffic stops, equip police with a tranquilizer weapon similar to what scientist use to render large animals comatose for examination. Or, equip police with a quick boot setup for the rear wheel of a vehicle. Approach the car, attach the wheel boot, then engage the occupants. You’re welcome.

As for shooting citizens that come to the Capital Building, the OBiden regime should just announce that the new communist government and all its buildings are off limits to citizens. None of us have ‘representatives’ in government anyway. That’s the way communism works. Justice under communism is very fungible.
